Introducing the data-driven trades newsletter
Your data sucks, and we're here to fix that
Welcome to Data Driven Trades!!!
Introduction
For the past few years, data is becoming a bigger topic of conversation in the trades.
Data isn’t everything, but good, accurate data can be life-changing for you and your business.
We’ve seen this first hand!!
One of our early clients was doing about $17 million annually in 2020 and was spending $3,000 per month on PPC.
We decided to track lead to revenue manually for about 9 months, to measure return on ad spend from that investment.
From just new customers, only influenced by Google and Bing PPC, they saw a return of $15,000 in the first month.
So, they decided to increase their budget to $10,000.
They got a $70,000 return (only new customers primarily influenced by Google / Bing, I made sure of that!).
Then pushed it even further with a budget of $15,000 per month, generating $150,000 in revenue from new customers primarily influenced by Google, Bing and Facebook advertising.
This year, nearly 3 years later, they’re on pace to do $35 million annually.
In that same time, we built a solution that automatically tracks customers from ad channels to website behaviors to activity in the CRM.
We call this process revenue flow.
This newsletter is dedicated to helping YOU as a contractor in the trades leverage this data to keep your vendors accountable and your teams accountable.
We can tell you benchmarks for —>
Average cost per booked job
Average booked job rate
Average match rate
Average return on ad spend
By channel, by conversion tool, by new customers, by business unit and more.
Why we are doing this
A family friend has a trades business and was getting absolutely taken advantage of by an ad agency with their lack of transparency (read, they didn’t do their jobs but our family friend had no idea).
We started a business to solve that problem and first entered home services as an agency.
We solved our own problem by building a comprehensive data tracking solution that beats any tool out there.
In fact, as of this writing I got a message from a 3rd party saying they sell leads to contractors!!!
We don’t want that for you anymore. We don’t want you to be frustrated by a lack of data and understanding of what your vendors do for you.
And if you are a vendor, we want to help you too - we white label our solution!
We want everyone to get their hands on this data and help it keep their business efficient and thriving.
You built this industry, and as it keeps growing more people want a piece of the pie.
We will pull nuggets and benchmarks with actionable advice - we’ve consulted hundreds of contractors with this data and this newsletter will be a resource to help you make data-driven decisions.
PS - the screenshot you saw above is a demo of the dashboard we built. We have data on data on data and can’t wait to help you grow the way you want and not feel overwhelmed in the process!
